Reducing re-offending

Reducing re-offending and social exclusion through innovative training; promoting increased understanding, personal change and skill sets necessary when working with marginalised groups, challenging behaviour and poor motivation. Promoting public debate surrounding the reduction of crime and re-offending, particularly former military veteran offenders. Engaging society and encouraging greater understanding and responsibility.

Welcome to Blogger - Reducing re-offending

This blog, (+ its associated web site - http://veteranschangepartnership.co.uk/ ) is intended to promote and widen the debate surrounding the reduction of crime, re-offending, social exclusion and the increasing marginalisation of groups within society, particularly regarding former military veteran offenders. It is intended that the content will go some way to stimulating greater discussion and understanding, ultimately assisting in the promotion of 'change' and a reduction in all.

About Me

My photo
Trevor Philpott OBE
Having served for 34 years in the Royal Marines, in 1997, colleagues and I started an innovative charity called C-FAR. The objectives of the charity were to rehabilitate young adult male offenders. Despite very good outcomes, owing to a lack of funding, in 2005 the charity was placed into voluntary liquidation. Since then, with two colleagues, we established another not for profit company called Life Change Initiative. Its objectives were to help others work more effectively with excluded and marginalised groups, including offenders - I am now working with others to establish a programme aimed at providing an alternative to custody and probation for military veteran offenders - The Veterans Change Partnership.

Winston Churchill Travel Fellowship - Youth crime in Eastern Europe and Chile

Having been very fortunate to have been awarded a Churchill Travel Fellowship, in 2006 I visited 6 countries. My aim was to briefly research issues surrounding the socio economic situation in each country, its impact upon youth crime and what each Government was attempting to do to reduce re-offending. It consists of an Executive summary and 6 seperate annexes, one for each country. I particularly draw your attention to some innovative work in Slovenia and the drive to promote Restorative Justice in Ukraine.
